Jody Smothers Marcello, Co-Coordinator of the Alaska Geographic Alliance, teaches Alaska Studies, AP Human Geography, and a freshman American History/English block at Sitka High School and Multicultural Education in the UAS MAT program. She has been faculty for numerous summer geography institutes both in Alaska and at the national level and regularly presents at state, national, and international conferences. Jody is a past-president of the National Council for Geographic Education and is a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher. She is Associate Editor of The Geography Teacher and published articles in the Journal of Geography and Social Education. She also co-chaired the Alaska geography content standards committee and authored the assessment chapter of the Alaska Social Studies
