In 2004, thirty high school teachers of Alaska history from around the state piloted the first version of the Alaska History & Cultural Studies course. Week-long summer institutes were offered by the Alaska Humanities Forum through 2009 providing an opportunity for more than 250 teachers to be immersed in Alaska's history and to familiarize themselves with the course.
